Mr. Stokes's Book Falsehoods of the Allied Nations' Victorious Views of History, as Seen by a British Journalist (in Japanese) became a best seller. Its English version is currently being edited.
Prof. Tanaka wrote a unique book review on this controversial book in comparison to John Dower's book Ways of Forgetting, Ways of Remembering: Japan in the Modern World.
Prof. Tanaka points out that a flexible thinking journalist, namely Henry S. Stokes, presents objective historical truth concerning Japanese modern history, especially with regard to the Nanking Incident, or Comfort Women issue, than academician John W. Dower, who sticks to the "victorious view of history" still prevalent.
